Back to School Tips for Busy Mornings

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, silly, not Christmas. It’s time to send those munchkins back to school and get everyone on a consistent routine again! This means busy mornings and even busier evenings balancing homework, after school activities, and sports. Oh yeah, and dinner at some point. This year I am sending two of my kiddos off to school which means twice the lunch packing, twice the homework, and twice the amount of paperwork coming in and out of the house 5 days a week. Like most parents, I always have an idealized vision of summer vacation in my head at the end of every school year. Mornings can be hectic. Even though we are in summer now and don’t have to rush out the door at dark-o’clock for school, there are still things that need to be done. The dog needs to go out, dishwasher needs to be emptied, 3 little munchkins need to be fed, and we need to get ready for the day whether we are running errands or the kids are off to dance camp. Husband, on the other hand, is still off to work every morning. There is no “summer break” in adulthood.

This smoothie is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

I’ve never been a huge fan of baking. It requires more precise measuring than cooking where everything is entirely up to your personal preferences. I’m mean, sure, I’ll bake muffins like these Monday Morning Muffins if it’ll let me sleep in a few extra minutes, but I’m not the mom who’s constantly baking cookies and cakes. Some of that has to do with my disdain for refined sugar and butter, but I digress.

Tropical Rehydration Spinach Smoothie

I don’t know what the weather is like where you live, but here in North Texas, it’s been hot! We are barely into spring and yet our daytime highs are pushing 90° F every day. We are well on our way to the summer when it’s “hotter than a jalapeño’s armpit.” Don’t blame me for that one. I heard it from my old southern chiropractor.
